It is always lovely to receive pictures of your clients after working together, especially when they look as beautiful as my lovely Catherine, who I started working with in March. We choose a cobalt blue silk for her shift dress, which had a soft sweet heart neckline mirrored also at her waist and an embroidered duppion silk for her fitted bolero – which had a sort of Indian heritage feel to it – both sourced from Joel and Sons. The combination of colours worked beautifully together and really complimented her warm skin tone, which was picked up beautifully in her fabulous hat created by a good friend of mine Katherine Elizabeth. She is a hugely talented milliner who creates anything from small head-pieces to dashing sky scrapers. Both Katherine and I offer a fully bespoke service, designing and creating beautiful garments and hats that are totally unique and suit the individual.

The jewel tones in all their glory never fail to impress me. From deep pinks to electric blue, using the jewel-tone-palette as a guide is a winner each season. I have recently been working on a beautiful shift dress in a vibrant blue - green crepe wool for one of my lovely clients. This is the perfect day to evening dress working well for both client meetings and drinks after work. We decided to cut a wide scoop neckline - low enough to show a little collar bone and finished with a beautiful satin trim. The dress had small capped sleeves shaped for a close fit with an empire line falling just below her bust line, bringing her in at her smallest point and shaped to fit and flatter the rest of her body. We choose a beautiful double weight crepe wool from Joel and Son, which has an excellent spring back quality keeping it in shape all day. It also has excellent drape qualities for wool making it a comfortable, practical and stylish option for everyday chic.

I love this time of year as finally I begin the delivery of my Ascot and wedding suits in all of their beautiful colours and designs. After months of working alongside my clients to get the perfect jacket and dress, garments leave the showroom to be enjoyed for special occasions and yearly events. The first of my deliveries began this week as I delivered a beautiful two piece suit I have been working on with my lovely client Catherine. We chose a stunning emerald green and sapphire blue embroidered duppion as the fabric for her bolero and a sapphire blue duppion for her dress. Duppion is a wonderfully structured fabric which keeps its look and comes in the most stunning array of colours. The picture simply doesn’t do the fabric justice - it was really quite beautiful, so alive and perfect for her May wedding. I sourced the fabric from top supplier Joel and Son who are based on the Edgeware Road. They supply fabric to the Queens dressmakers so you know your in for a special treat when you visit Joel’s!

I hosted the launch of my Made to measure collection in our beautiful Savile Row show room last Thursday with over 25 fabulous ladies. The new collection, which focuses on business and casual weekend wear, features a beautifully tailored jacket, skirt, trouser and waistcoat is customised using your chosen fabric(to which their are some beautiful colours and designs) along with an array of linings, trimmings, buttons - all cut and tailored to fit your individual shape. The collection is classic in style and in my opinion, is the answer to a perfectly formed capsule wardrobe.
Claire and Anne browsing the collection
Alongside the made to measure service, I launched my made to measure shirt service and this is where you can really have some fun with the design and styling. There is the option of choosing your own collar and cuff, high stand low stand, Nehru neckline - the list goes on and all tailored in beautiful quality cottons. The cotton collection is vast with lots of fresh pastel colours for spring shirts alongside some more formal fabrics for that tailored day or evening look.
The event was a great success and the feedback from my new service has been very positive. It was also lovely of course to see so many of my clients in the same room wearing the bespoke creations that we have worked on over the last 18 months.
I'd also like to thank all my lovely clients for buying raffle tickets on the evening to win a tailor made dress from my first collection. We raised £370 for the baby charity Forever Angels, which looks after orphaned and abandoned children in Tanzania and I am looking forward to making a beautiful shift dress for our winner Liz.
So with the start of Spring here, I am very pleased to be offering my clients a made to measure and bespoke service, offering you design and creation tailoring services for both your business and occasion wear wardrobe. I love working with Boucle wool. Its looser in weave and the sheer variety of colours and styles make it a fabulous day and evening option for our wardrobes. Its also its comfortable, versatile and a great wardrobe alternative to structured wool. Its the sort of glamorous day to evening look I love and whats more, it stays in shape and is perfect wear for this time of year. We finished Catherine’s suit(pictured on the stand below)with an Azalea pink lining, which added a beautiful contrast to the slate grey wool.

The slate grey was only one option I had - Boucle is big in the fashion houses every year and there are endless options of colours and varieties available to choose from. I picked up some lighter weight boucle options in Joel and Son this week - who supply a majority of fabrics to yours truly, HRM.

Kate Middleton was also photographed this week wearing a beautifully fitting boucle coat pulling her signature style of fitted coats and dresses off perfectly. What I loved about Kate’s coat, apart from the colour and stylish cut, was the designers choice to use an an inside-out-seam, modernising the coat for a sophisticated, stylish feel. I am happy to say that tailoring for Spring is finally here and for your own stylish cut and to browse some truly beautiful fabrics do pop into Savile Row for tea or be in touch!

For a minute there is had me fooled. The warmer days, slightly lighter evenings…..perhaps the end of a mildly cold winter? No such luck. A second snap of cold last night left the car frozen and saw a return to my favorite tailored winter coat. Having created some beautiful coats this year using Harris Tweed, double wool crepe and my favorite Holland and Sherry cashmere range, I wanted to share with you one of my latest deliveries.
This coat was for one of my lovely clients who was Paris bound the next day. She happily reported on her return that she felt ‘super stylish’ amongst her fellow Parisians and its hardly surprising! The coat has been tailored using a purple ‘Sherry Kash’, combining the luxury of cashmere with wool, soft to the touch but with all the structure a tailored coat should have. The velvet trim and covered buttons create interesting detail - the coat is certainly a classic tailored piece, perfect to wear over a day dress or mid weight trouser suit. The coat can be shortened or lengthened depending on your individual requirements – that’s the beauty of bespoke tailoring!
Its never too late to start investing in your winter coat, although I received my new spring fabric bunches last week and they really are quite beautiful….

Wedding season may seem a little far away, after all, Christmas was only last week right?!- But if you are planning on attending a wedding or better still, getting married this year, planning for your outfit begins now. There is choosing your fabric, the style of jacket and dress you’d like to wear, hats to be created and shoes to be dyed if you are looking for the perfect match that is. I met two lovely ladies this week, both of whom, are marrying this year. They are looking for more constructed wedding suits with interesting fabrics, stylish detailing and of course, all beautifully fitted and tailored to their shape.

The beautifully tailored 'Catherine' jacket and 'Kelly' dress are examples of what can be made
Starting off with an obligatory cup of tea, design and cut are initially discussed and worked around your shape and everything from hemline, bust shape to the style of skirt, are considered. There is great room for flexibility in both design and feature, perhaps there is something special to the both of you we can work into your outfit – making it a truly unique garment .

I have beautiful
selection of coloured silks to match your skin tone, the bridal party and there
is always the option of going fabric shopping together, which will allow you to
drape larger pieces of silk for the perfect match. Your chosen style is always
cut to calico initially, this allows you to try something on before we even
touch the fabric and tweaks to your initial design can be made to our pattern.
Once we are both happy with the design and fit, your garment will be
constructed and ready for delivery (you may choose an optional fitting here).
What you will leave the studio with, is an
outfit you feel confident in wearing, knowing time and consideration have been
spent together on fabrics, fit, cut and style…what more could you require on
your special day?!

The 'Penny' jacket
With winter well and truly here, its hard
to stay looking stylish without basking yourself in a sleeping bag - style
jacket. I must say, I recently purchased one with ducky feathers and all sorts
of stuffing, but if you are looking for a stylish, smart wardrobe addition, I highly
recommend a Harris Tweed jacket or coat. The tighter woven Harris Tweed wool is
produced in the Isle of Harris and Outer Hebrides and its resistance to the cold
can’t be beaten. What I love about Harris Tweed (amongst many things), is that
the fabric does as its told. Unlike velvet, which often has a mind of its own –
especially when pressing (!)- Harris Tweed stays in place, retains shape and is
guaranteed to keep you warm throughout the winter months. I also love the way
the dye takes to the wool creating flecks of colour and interest throughout the
fabric. The fabric is alive with interest and the woven colours mean it’s a
versatile addition your wardrobe. We matched the below jacket, created for my
wonderful client Penny, with Mother of Pearl buttons, which picked up the
colours beautifully. She also had a tailored day dress made to go with the
jacket: I can see it working with jeans and a cotton shirt too for weekends. Fabric
samples can be requested through Holland and Sherry or nooshin@nooshin.co.uk

It was great to see the lovely Samanthi on ‘This Morning’ today presenting in one of my dresses. She chose to wear the 'Lucie' dress in shot pink and as I’m sure you would agree, looked fab and certainly brightened up the screen!
